This session might just have introduced me to one of my new favorite locations. When Cara and Pat asked if I’d be willing to drive to Lindsborg, KS to make this session happen, it was an easy YES!! Not only is my family from Lindsborg and the town holds a special place in my heart, but this turned out to be a beautiful setting for photos. We started out in The Heights sunflower field (@theheightslbk) and ended the evening watching the sunset from Coronado Heights nearby. As we walked the trails of the sunflower field, we had so much fun laughing and getting to know each other. Cara and Pat were so easy-going and full of energy. It was easy to see the love and joy the two of them share as they almost always were grinning at each other, stealing kisses, or laughing.
Cara and Pat met through an app called Hinge. After some conversation back and forth, they set their first date and quickly bonded over their love of food. When I asked Cara and Pat about some of the things they like to do together, it quickly became clear that finding great places to eat and visiting zoos are some of their favorites. I love the tradition they’ve started that on each anniversary, they go to visit a different zoo!!
When Pat decided it was time to ask Cara to be his wife, he planned out lots of details to make it unique and special to them. As the sports director for Meridian Media, Pat is the voice of the Kansas Wesleyan Coyotes and thought it would great to propose on the floor of Mabee Arena where the Coyotes play on New Year’s Eve. When Cara walked in to the arena, the lights were out, but there was a spotlight shining on a box in the center of the floor filled with pictures and the ring. The box also included the the sayings, “You know I love you right?” which Cara said to Pat over New Year’s a year prior, and “So, do you wanna get married or what?” which is what Cara’s dad said when he proposed to her mom.
Cara and Pat will get married in the summer of 2022. I can’t wait to see their big day come together, and I am beyond thrilled to have the honor of capturing their day!!! Congratulations Cara and Pat!!!
