I met Kelesey and Brandon at the Wichita Bridal Expo in March, but really got to enjoy getting to know them as we walked around the Keeper of the Plains. These two are so easy going, and it’s easy to see how they fell for each other. Kelesey is originally from Wichita and Brandon is from Wellington, but the two of them met at Cowley Community College in 2015.
As I asked them about how Brandon proposed, they started chuckling and telling me that it wasn’t the fairytale story people imagine. One of the things they like to do together is take trips to new places or places they both love. So on a short trip with some family, Kelesey assumed that might be the moment. Brandon realized Kelesey had clued in to what was happening and didn’t actually propose. On the drive home Kelesey was a little disappointed to say the least. Later that night, Brandon surprised her in an unexpected way by asking her to marry him. I won’t give away the details, but their story is their story. Proposals don’t have to be big and flashy or what Disney movies are based on to be meaningful. The most important part of a proposal is that it is meaningful and true to the couple. After all, it’s the marriage that matters most.
